We’re excited to welcome three new talented team members to the Gramercy family this year. They each have an interesting story and unique skill set and we’re thrilled each of them has chosen to apply their talents to our company.

George Von Bartheld, Parts Manager

Parts manager, George Von Bartheld

George joined us in July, initially working at our Computer Associates project. He was recommended by another Gramercy employee and began as a 138 laborer. Recognizing his interest in taking on a much needed role, we welcomed George to Gramercy headquarters where he now manages all mechanic parts and purchasing.

With his background as a mechanic starting right after high school and continuing until age 23 he has a solid understanding of parts and heavy equipment.

At 23, motivated by his deep patriotism and desire to serve his country, George enlisted in the military, joining the U.S. Coast Guard’s Ice Rescue Unit and serving for 5 and 1/2 years We deeply respect and thank George for his service.

George grew up in Brookhaven and has two older sisters. He’s married to his best friend whom he’s known since they were young teens. They reconnected at 26, started dating and were married a year later. Today they have a beautiful  baby girl, appropriately named Saylor.

In his spare time George enjoys restoring boats and boating. At Gramercy, George says he appreciates the challenge and responsibility his current role brings, and it’s clear the position was made for him.

Thank you George for your dedication to keeping our mechanic parts organized and equipment running smoothly!

Mark Tavares, Project Engineer

Project Engineer, Mark Tavares

Mark joined Gramercy in June after being recommended by a recruiter. Prior to joining us, he worked in Washington, D.C., where he focused on electrical work for transit systems. After two years in that role, he realized he wanted to dive deeper into transit-related projects, particularly given his academic background in transportation.

Mark graduated from the University of Buffalo with a major in Civil Engineering and a minor in Transportation. His interest in engineering was sparked by his childhood experiences commuting with his father, who owned a deli in SoHo. Growing up in Brooklyn and traveling into the city, Mark was always captivated by the beauty of New York’s architecture and bridges, which inspired his desire to be part of building the city’s infrastructure.

Mark comes from a large family, with three brothers and one sister. He enjoys his role at Gramercy because he values being an integral part of a project. He understands that every detail in the drawings is crucial to the success of a structure, and he takes pride in knowing that thoroughness makes a difference in the community.

Currently, Mark is working on our Three Stations Project. He is part of our hardworking team who continue to make great progress on our elevated line platform work. He appreciates being part of a project that will make commuting safer and improve our community. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, surfing, and going to the gym.  Thank you Mark for being part of our team.

Ashley Finamore, Corporate Controller

Corporate Controller, Ashley Finamore

We’d like to give a big welcome to Ashley Finamore, one of the newest additions to the Gramercy team. Ashley, who has been with Gramercy for about a month now, grew up in Setauket, Long Island, and studied Business Management and Accounting/Finance at CW Post. Having worked in her family’s exterior subcontracting business, owned by her grandparents and father, since she was young, Ashley always knew this was her path. As a controller, she appreciates being able to connect with everyone and solve problems, as her role touches every aspect of the business. She aims to bridge operations and accounting.

In her spare time, Ashley enjoys going to concerts with her fiancé, who is a musician, and they’re set to be married next year. Additionally, Ashley has been serving on the CFMA board for the past three years and is on the PDAC board at Professional Women in Construction. Despite her busy schedule, she still finds time to give back, volunteering weekly at a local soup kitchen in Brooklyn.

Ashley believes that finance can be fun, and she’s passionate about educating and mentoring others to help them better understand it by breaking down complex concepts.

Thank you Ashley for joining Gramercy! Our team is excited to work with you and looks forward to creating solutions together.
